Now that summer is here, the short shorts, dresses and skirts are out in full force, and that means I have to shave often! I have thick, dark coarse hair so, when it grows back, it grows with a vengeance! Eek! With that said, I learned the importance of adding a few extra steps to my shaving routine to maintain a hair free summer, for as long as possible.
I start off with cleansing my skin with a gentle and moisturizing body wash, like the new Aveeno® Daily Moisturizing Vanilla & Oats Yogurt body wash. The rich and creamy formula is made with Active Naturals® to help gently revitalize dry skin.
Once my skin is cleansed, I move on to the Schick® Hydro Silk® razor, along with Skintimate’s new hypoallergenic moisturizing shave gel – Skintimate® Skin Therapy® Ultra Sensitive – this shave gel forms a rich lather to help you see where you’ve shaved so you never miss a spot! Schick® Hydro Silk® goes beyond a close shave to care for your skin.
As a #SchickAmbassador I was asked to share with my readers a #GoBeyond story and how you can embrace the #PowerOfConfidence.
I started my blog, My Fash Avenue, as a creative outlet in my spare time, as I wasn’t so happy with my 9-5 job, working in an office for a large home developer. I started browsing the internet and discovered a bunch of fashion/beauty blogs (which weren’t as popular as they are today) and I thought, why not give it a try? I mean, why not experience something that I’ve always been passionate about, right?! I immediately set up my website (literally that same day), went out to Best Buy, and bought myself a camera. I had no clue what I was getting myself into but, as an introvert, at the time, I was determined to follow my passion! I got my little sister to take pictures of me, and then I started posting 5x/day. I had no idea my blog would open up so many great opportunities, experiences and friendships.
The time I started to come out of my shell was when I was featured in a 4-page editorial spread with Elle Canada! Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always dreamed of being a model, but didn’t ever think it would happen since my height is more on the petite side, rather than taller side. After a couple of years blogging, I was contacted by TRESemmé to be featured in Elle Canada, not once, but twice in the 4-page spread. I had to literally pinch myself as I never thought this would happen in my 30’s! It allowed me to turn my childhood dream into a reality!
Starting my blog was the best thing I’ve ever done! Although you might find it hard to believe, I used to be an introvert. Blogging has helped me find my voice and give me the confidence I never thought I would ever have. As a kid, I was bullied, which led me to turn into a shy an insecure little girl. If I could go back in time, I would tell my 9 year old self to not care what people say, and speak up with confidence, because it’s not worth letting cruel people change who you really are.
