I was recently asked to be featured in FASHIONOTES, a digital fashion feed covering the latest in fashion, beauty, & technology.
Here’s what was featured:
by Karin Jorritsma on May 18, 2013
With her blog, My Fash Avenue, aspiring stylist Deanne has found the perfect mix of personal and fashion industry coverage! This Toronto-based blog is chock full of fashion, beauty, celebrity looks, styling videos and photo shoots, as well as personal looks.
We love how Deanne keeps us up to date on the latest brand campaigns, store openings (such as a sneak peek of HR2 Opening at Vaughan Mills), fashion show reviews, and of course, her wicked personal style. She posts daily, so there is always fresh, new content up on the blog!
FN: What inspired you to start blogging?
Deanne: I was inspired by other style bloggers that I discovered from Lauren Conrad’s blog, LaurenConrad.com. I am also an aspiring stylist and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to challenge myself and network within the fashion industry.
FN: Which blogs do you currently read (fashion or otherwise)?
FN: How important is social media for your blog and connecting with your audience?
Deanne: Social media such as Twitter and Instagram are a huge influence. It’s a major help with connecting to important people, brands, and spreading the word about MyFashAvenue. I’ve also made many friends and have helped out people with styling advice.
What is the best perk of being a blogger?
Deanne: Making new friends and inspiring my readers/followers.
What is the best experience you’ve had as a blogger?
Deanne: I’ve had a couple; first is definitely attending my first World Master Card Fashion Week. I had the pleasure of meeting designer, Joe Mimran of Joe Fresh, backstage just minute before his runway show began. Second was being featured on Lauren Conrad’s blog as “Chic of the week!”
What are your aspirations? Where do you hope to take your blog in the future?
Deanne: Since I love fashion, I want to become a full-time stylist. I want to style celebrities, magazine covers and average people such as CEO’s that need some tips and tricks to make them look presentable.

Thank you to Lauren Conrad and her team for featuring me in LaurenConrad.com blog on Friday, December 28th, 2012 as “Chic of the week”. This is a HUGE accomplishment for me! I am truly honoured and surprised as this was a goal of mine for 2012! What else can an inspiring stylist ask for than to be called a “closet chameleon” from one of the most popular blogs out there! I am big fan of Lauren Conrad and I have nothing but positive things to say about her and her blog.
